The works of Salih Zeki Sayar departs from a dilemma: “Perceiving life as it is presented to you or to face a different side of it? His works emphasize the importance of reaching beyond what appears at first glance. He visualizes that a part of us always remains the same, despite the change we go through in our struggle with life and ourselves. His sculptures bring together the side that protects itself against all negativities and damages, and our other half which is transformed, in the same composition.
OUR NEVER-ENDING FIGHT AGAINST LIFE
The works of the artist generally reflect human figures. Posture, movement and strength of the human body are the starting points of Sayar's sculptures. He attributes fairy-tale and fantastic elements to people in his works. With the help of elements such as wings and sea waves, he takes his sculptures to another dimension. Sayar's works tell the story of our struggle against life, accompanied by thorns, spears, scorpions and angels.
